He is killed in his actions, though buys Price enough time to act and kill Makarov, hanging him on the rooftop of the hotel complex they were fighting in. Due to blood loss, Yuri was unable to catch up to the killers and passed out in the airport terminal.ĭuring the final mission of Act Three, "Dust to Dust", Yuri sacrifices himself to save Price from death at Makarov's hands. Instead, he found himself taken captive in the underground car park at the airport, before being shot by Makarov personally. At the end of Modern Warfare 2019, Shepherd asked for a list of candidates for Task Force 141 to take Viktor Zakhaev down, and these names included 'Soap' MacTavish, Kyle 'Gaz' Garrick and Simon 'Ghost. Yuri intended to prevent the massacre at Zakhaev International Airport by killing Makarov and his men, as well as CIA agent "Alexei Bodorin". The next Call of Duty game, which will continue the storyline of Modern Warfare 2019, will see the return of none other than General Shepherd. Yuri's distrust of Makarov began after he detonated a nuclear device in the Middle East, wiping out 50,000 United States Marines. This mission is playable during the Call of Duty 4 campaign, under the name of "One Shot, One Kill". Yuri also tells Price that he was with both Makarov and Imran Zakhaev in Priypat when Price made an attempt to kill Zakhaev, in 1996. Yuri reveals that he was at Makarov's side as he detonated the nuke in Modern Warfare and was shot by Makarov right before the massacre at Zakhaev International Airport in Modern Warfare 2. In a voiced-over sequence during Act Three, Yuri narrates to Captain Price his connections to Makarov, as well as new information about the plot of the previous two games being shown. During the main storyline of Modern Warfare 3 it is revealed that Yuri was a former Ultranationalist, acting as one of Makarov's closest allies.
Yuri is initially introduced as an ex- Spetsnaz soldier, holding an even more extreme dislike of Vladimir Makarov than Price himself. He is brought in to aid Captain Price and Nikolai to get Soap out of India at the request of Price. Most of Price's squad that he mentions at the end of the Modern Warfare campaign have since been added, and so it's not a stretch to assume that Soap could very well be next in line.Yuri is introduced early in the Modern Warfare 3 campaign, during the opening mission, "Persona Non Grata". Details on what exactly Modern Warfare Season 6 will entail have yet to be revealed at the time of this writing, but each season has included a major new playable character. If Soap does come to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, the most likely scenario is that he will come to the game as part of Season 6. Captain Price mentions Soap at the end of the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare campaign, but he has yet to actually make an official appearance. A frequent Call of Duty franchise leaker has suggested that fan favorite character Soap may indeed be coming to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare at some point soon.įor the uninitiated, Soap was one of the main characters in the original Modern Warfare trilogy, and played a key role in that story. However, Soap is so far nowhere to be seen in Modern Warfare, but that could change in the near future. Months before Call of Duty: Modern Warfare launched, it was confirmed that John "Soap" MacTavish would be in the game.
